City of Stars - United
The primary inspiration for LA 2028 stems from the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Having a star on the Walk of Fame symbolizes the achievements of an individual or group within the entertainment industry. Similarly, the Olympics celebrates the athletic achievements of every athlete who has trained to compete. The five colors represent the bird of paradise, the vibrant city flower. Together, they showcase community and achievements in the city of stars.
Process
The original logo went through many iterations, stemming from numbers 3 and 4 in the original thumbnails. Once the final logo was decided, the theme of stars gave way to creating the pictograms in the shapes of stars, symbolizing how every athlete is a star in their own right. Additional sketches were created to decide on the fashion of the Games.
